Well one way to make sure you stay warm when the temperatures drop is to move furniture! In a little over a week, the doors of the Marketplace will be closing and we will be able to focus all our time, energy, and effort on the Manor House. In the meantime, the we have been running around nonstop to make this change happen. Vendors are moving in to the Manor, and we are clearing space to make sure we can fit everyone. Luckily for us, this change is coming right after Christmas, and because of wonderful customers like you who chose to make Deep Creek Vintage part of your holiday shopping, we have the space to make this happen.
Many of you have asked, and yes, there will be a studio! One thing we are working on is clearing out a room that was previously used for storing and sorting new pieces to be able to provide a studio in the house. This room was the original kitchen of the house, so it has a working sink and will provide us a great space to create beautiful pieces. Carpet is down, and the groundwork has been laid. Pictures to come soon!
One other question that many customers want know is, “Are there sales?” Yes! Many vendors currently have wonderful sales in their spaces, so now is a great time to shop! While certainly not everything is on sale, you can find wonderful deals. And many of our vendors always have prices so great, you don’t even need a sale.
We are changing things here, but we shouldn’t be the only ones! The new year is a great time to switch around things in your home, too! And Deep Creek is a great place to come for the pieces to make it happen. Vendors are bringing in new things constantly, and switching around their spaces with pieces that just might add the perfect touch to your home.
We are excited about the future of Deep Creek Vintage. While we are sad to say goodbye to the Marketplace, and know that many of our customers will miss it, we know that these changes are in the the best interest of Deep Creek Vintage, our vendors, and our customers. We thank you for your support as we make the transition, and are excited to show you a new Deep Creek in the weeks to come.
It seems that 2014 flew by in the blink of an eye. It was an interesting year, to say the least. In many ways, 2014 was a wonderful year. Our family at Deep Creek Vintage grew, both in customers and vendors. Our space changed with the Marketplace, and the doors of the Manor House continued to let in a flurry of activity. We celebrated our first birthday with Market Days, and made many new friends along the way.
With that said, 2014 also presented challenges. While the Marketplace was a wonderful addition that allowed us to grow and experiment, the building itself presents challenges. Often these challenges occupied time that pulled us away from other places and made running the Marketplace a challenge. After several months of trial and error and weighing the costs and benefits, we have decided to put all our efforts into the Manor House moving forward. While we will miss the extra space that the Marketplace allowed us, we are looking forward to having more time to dedicate to the Manor, and bringing to its full fruition. The Marketplace will remain open for several weeks, but then Deep Creek Vintage will reside solely in the Manor House.
Now that the new year is here, we are looking forward to a great new beginning with even more changes at Deep Creek Vintage. One thing that you know about Deep Creek is that when we switch things around, we do it in a major way. Be prepared for more big things. The Manor House will be getting a brand new look inside over the next few weeks. Changes have already started, so please be patient as we move things around and switch things out to bring you even more wonderful pieces and vendors. As we prepare for this change, many vendors are running great sales as they prepare to switch around their spaces and rooms, so this is a great time to stop in and see what great deals you can find. Want to know more about what will be happening at Deep Creek Vintage in 2015? I guess you will have to stop in and see for yourself!
In less than two weeks, we will be anxiously awaiting the arrival of the jolly old soul and his team of reindeer. Which means for the next two weeks, I am frantically trying to make sure I get as much accomplished as I can to be ready. My trees are finally up, my cards are almost done, and I feel like I am finally making progress.
I can’t lie; some parts of the holiday I enjoy more than others. My favorite part hands down is shopping. And, there are certainly people I enjoy shopping for more than others. But, I have had the most fun with trying to support local shops this year. I visited shops I had never been in before, and found some of the most charming places. Instead of chain restaurants, I have been eating at local Mom&Pop type places. What better way to end a day of shopping than with a great meal? And the best part? Many of them offer gift certificates you can make part of your gift giving as well.
Some of my favorite shops are local, and they are on my yearly “must shop” list. We still have to pick out our special ornaments for our children, and it’s nice that it’s a yearly tradition at a local shop now. And, I of course have been shopping from the amazing vendors at Deep Creek Vintage. What are my favorite parts about small, local businesses? The sense of community is one. Often the people who work here are the owners, and you get to know them. The customer service is another. They take the time to care. These businesses were created by people who have a passion for what they are doing, and it shows. The uniqueness is another. Often you can find one-of-a-kind pieces, or things that you can’t find anywhere else.
So have you taken the challenge to shop local this season? We know many of you have because we have seen you at Deep Creek Vintage with your lists! And we are so thankful! If you haven’t started your shopping yet, it’s not too late. We have plenty for everyone on your list, with more arriving everyday. For those of you who have shopped local, please tell us about your favorite finds and your experiences! Make shopping local part of your holiday tradition. We hope to see you soon, and happy holidays from all of us at Deep Creek Vintage!
It’s easy to get lost in the holiday craziness and lose sight of the true meaning of the season. Just try to get near one of the major shopping centers, and more likely than not you will find yourself encountering traffic, long lines, and at least one person who resembles Scrooge before he met with the three spirits. This year we would like to present you with a challenge. When you make your list, think local, think original, and think small business.
Imagine one of these gorgeous trunks at the base of your tree, filled with beautifully wrapped gifts. Not only is it a eye-catching piece that would certainly stand out in your home, but you could make it part of your Christmas tradition.
Maybe you and your significant other have stopped exchanging gifts and have just started buying something you “need” each year. Wouldn’t it be nice if this year that item was something you wanted and could pass down to future generations? Think of a sideboard like this that can stand the test of time, and will never go out of style.
Even if you aren’t in the market for a large piece this holiday season, we have pieces and items for everyone on your list! Headed to a holiday party? We have wonderful hostess gifts! Looking for a stocking stuffer? How about handmade soap in an array of amazing scents? Shopping for the woman who has everything? What about a unique piece of handcrafted jewelry?
We know that there are people on your list who are hard to buy for, and certainly it is easy to get a gift certificate and let them select items that they like. But what about a gift certificate to a shop where you know their gifts will be unique! We offer gift certificates in any denomination. Stop in today, and we will help you finish all the shopping on your list. This season shop for those on your list where it makes a difference. Choose local shops run by your friends and neighbors. Shop small, shop local, shop unique. Hope to see you soon at Deep Creek Vintage! We are open seven days a week, Monday – Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday 11-5. We will be open on Christmas Eve from 10-12 for pre-arranged pick-ups if you have a holiday surprise you need help hiding. Have a great holiday season from all of us at Deep Creek Vintage!
Thanksgiving has passed, and we all hope you had a wonderful day surrounded by family and friends, plenty of food, laughter, and fun. There is no question as to what we are thankful for at Deep Creek Vintage! With all the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holiday, it’s always nice to take a moment to breathe and reflect on everything that we often take for granted. We have made so many wonderful friends this year. When a customer enters the Manor or Marketplace a stranger, it is so nice when they leave a friend. We have thoroughly enjoyed the conversations we have had with each of you. In the same way that each piece of furniture has a story, each customer has a story. We love knowing that a dresser is going to a new home, but love it more when we know that the dresser will be used in the bedroom of a child that is eagerly anticipated by a family who have been searching for the perfect piece since they first learned they were expecting. Or a bedroom set that was painted with care now is the mark of accomplishment by a young woman who has found the perfect job, the perfect home, and is moving onward and upward in the world as she flourishes in her independence.
Our painting classes have grown and changed, and will continue to evolve as we grow into our Marketplace studio. We are so thankful for the opportunity this space allows, and for the interest and spirit of fun our customers have shown by jumping in and joining us. They say if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life, and we feel this is truly the case here. We will continue to offer new classes in the coming months, and different chances to experiment, learn, and grow with the new products we offer. We know the holidays are a busy time of year, so look for a fresh class schedule after the new year.
The Marketplace is changing daily, and we are so thankful to all the vendors who have joined our family. We have vendors who have made antiques a lifelong business and vendors who have recently decided to make an interest something more. We are thankful for each one who has decided to call Deep Creek Vintage home.
From all of us at Deep Creek Vintage, thank you for your support and patronage. Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday. This day is an important day to shop because is shows that you support small businesses in your community and want to see them grow and thrive. It means that you want to see the money that you spend in your community go right back into your community. We encourage you to support all small businesses and make sure you make Deep Creek one of your stops. Thank you from all of us at Deep Creek Vintage, and we hope to see you soon!
It’s almost time for the craziness of the holidays to begin. In less than a week , we will be sitting down with our families, enjoying a Thanksgiving feast. I, for one, am lucky that I do not have to cook. Or maybe my family is lucky that I do not have to cook, because while God may have gifted me with talents, cooking is not one of them. Will you be cooking this year? Or are you a lucky one like me who married into a family of cooks? I still remember Thanksgiving as a child. We used to go to my grandmother’s, and our main meal was eaten early in the day. We ate so much that by dinner, no one was hungry. Being a huge carb fan, my dinner meal consisted of some of the leftover mashed potatoes and gravy. Now I couldn’t imagine just sitting down with nothing but mashed potatoes for dinner!
One thing that always amazes me about the holidays is how one day that is the same in history can be celebrated so differently by so many. Some families dress to the nines, pull out the fine china, the polished silver, and sit down at a fully decorated table to a meal that looks as though it has been prepared by a professional chef. Other families pull out the folding tables to make sure there is enough room for the growing families, form buffet lines on paper plates, and eat good home-cooking with no frills and lots of laughs. Many other families meet somewhere in the middle. The kids watch the Thanksgiving parade while the adults prepare the meal, and the football games frequently make and appearance on tv while they stay home with their immediate families and just have a special day with those closest to them .
What does your Thanksgiving look like? Are you part of a big family? A small family? Are you the cook or the guest? What is your favorite dish? I would love to hear about your holiday traditions! And while many of your may be fueling up on Thanksgiving for the craziness of Black Friday, we hope that you won’t forget about us on Saturday. November 29 is Small Business Saturday, and we would love to be one of the businesses you support. You can make a big difference this holiday season by supporting your local businesses. Be local, buy local. And have a great Thanksgiving!
She must have been at Deep Creek Vintage this past weekend during our Holiday Open House. It wasn’t grandma’s fault, though, because it was a mad house of Christmas here! We are so thankful to our loyal Deep Creek Vintage customers who were here to pack the house as soon as we opened the doors. Well, technically they shopped the porch first. But wouldn’t you? We are so blessed to have a resident decorating fairy, Donna of Snow Creek Farm, who puts a little magic, a little love, and a lot of talent into arranging our outdoor areas into a beautiful place.
Inside was full of treasures, too, in both the Manor House and Marketplace! Turquoise Talulah pulled out all the bells and whistles (and glitter) to create a winter wonderland in their marketplace space. Wouldn’t you like to spend some time here? Our customers certainly did! It’s hard to remember that last year the Marketplace wasn’t even a part of Deep Creek Vintage. We are so thrilled to be growing our family to include so many wonderful vendors.
The house was a buzz with excitement, with a huge variety of treasures to be found. From sparking tinsel trees to a wind-up vintage Santa, there was no telling what would come to the register next. That was part of the fun! Many customers took advantage of our vendors’ sales, and many larger furniture pieces found new homes as well.
We heard a lot of people making their lists during the open house, and dropping subtle (and not-so-subtle) hints to their significant others. It seems like some took notice, because we had a lot of customers return on Sunday with notes. It’s always nice when you know you have already finished shopping for a special someone on your list. It’s even nicer when you know their gifts are one-of-a-kind and exactly what they want!
We are so grateful to all our customers who made Deep Creek Vintage a part of their weekend and helped support our Holiday Open House. Our holidays are always a lot sweeter because of wonderful customers like you! We are definitely in the holiday spirit, and the vendors have been making sure they bring in new pieces to fill their spaces back up. In fact, I am needed to help carry in a piece right now! Hope to see you soon so that we can help you with your holiday decorating, your holiday shopping, and just so that we can say thank you for shopping local and supporting Deep Creek Vintage.
