Spring is coming….

It may be hard to believe since it was only 20 degrees this morning, but spring will be here before we know it! We’ve had a few beautiful days (and it’s supposed to be gorgeous again this weekend). It’s making us restless for this cold weather to take it’s leave and for spring to arrive in all our homes. What does spring mean for you?

We know some have already started their spring cleaning. It’s a great time to get rid of those things that no longer bring you joy and figure out how you can add a pop of color here, or a touch of whimsy there to give a room just the right touch. What room in your house is in need of sweeping out more than just the cobwebs?

Winter is wonderful with its creamy whites and ivories, but it’s always nice to see the color return. It doesn’t have to stop with the the flowers in your garden though. Bring them inside (or find high quality arrangements) that help to continue to the trend throughout.

Not a floral fan?  Spring means new life, and nothing livens up a room like bright colors. Afraid to be too drastic? Even just a little piece here and there can make a big difference.

Come Create!

It’s finally time to pull back the curtain and reveal the Creative Cottage! This weekend is our grand opening, and a time for you to come see all the fun things in store. It has been a labor of love to transform another neglected building into the quirky cottage you now see, but well worth it!

Saturday from 11am until 3pm we will be having free make-and-takes as well as demonstrations with some of our talented instructors. We’ll also be having drawings for free workshops, and a sale on all creative projects! If you’ve been eyeing all the great new pieces showing up on our Facebook page, now is your chance to come see them in person. Winter is a great time to try something new, and we have fabulous new lines of user-friendly products that will take your projects to the next level.

Out With the Old, In With the…Vintage

In two days time, we will be bidding adieu to 2016 to welcome in 2017. The Christmas decorations will begin to come down (if they haven’t already), and you’ll begin to put your house back together again from the chaos that always seems to follow December 25th (at least in my house). And if you’re anything like me, after all the decorations are down, you’ll decide that while the house looked perfectly fine before Thanksgiving, it’s now missing something. It needs a little added touch. And the new year is the perfect time to do it!

Here we come a-caroling

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Here at Deep Creek Vintage;
Take a look all around the shop, decorated from bottom to top
With candy canes and embellished silverplate aglow.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Right within our store,
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On our own front porch.
A pair of decorated skates and an old iron gate
Is the wish of Barbara and Ben;
An old vintage sled and a Frenchy twin bed
Is the hope of Janice and Jen;

And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev’rywhere you go;
There’s a tree on the farm table, one in the front room as well,
And vintage ornaments to hang on every bough.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart.

Happy holidays from Deep Creek Vintage, and come visit us for all your holiday decorating and shopping needs!

Keeping it Local

We are always grateful for the support of our community, but there is one day a year that is special. Small Business Saturday is coming up in about a week’s time. So what exactly is Small Business Saturday? And why is it so important? It’s a topic that any local business man or woman loves to discuss.

Black Friday is traditionally the day known for crowded malls and the shop-till-you-drop flurry as people rush to begin their holiday shopping. But the day after that has taken on new significance. Known as Small Business Saturday, it is a day to skip the large box stores and instead visit all the small, locally owned businesses. It’s a day to make your dollars count as you put them back into the community where you live, play, and raise your family. Local retailers love this day because for them it represents a promise that in the year to come, they can count on community support. They see that customers understand the hard work, love, and sacrifice put into being retailers in the community. It’s a day to celebrate all that being a local business means.

We are a store that is built on local vendors. We are your neighbors and your friends. We are the people you run into the grocery store, and the people you sit next to at church. We are PTA moms, and grandmothers and grandfathers. We love what we do, and love being part of a small, local business. And we appreciate the support of the community we live in.

So come join us! We’ll be open Saturday, November 26th from 9am until 5pm. Yes, we’re even opening early! We’d love to help you with your holiday shopping so that you can make sure each gift you give is truly unique, and that you can say with pride that you supported small, local businesses.

Thanks for your support, and happy holidays!

Market Madness

We are always overwhelmed at the support of our loyal customers to our events, and our Fall Market Days proved no different. The weather was on our side this time, with two days of sunshine, warm temperatures, and a wonderful breeze. It was the perfect weekend to come visit the Manor!

Tents lined the front of Deep Creek Vintage, with a wide variety of merchandise for our customers to peruse. From handmade signs, to fragrant soaps, to little crafty creations, there was no shortage on selection. Our front porch as packed with treasures, and inside was full of “new” pieces ready to find new homes. And they certainly did! All weekend there was a steady stream at the register as customers found items they had to have. We loved hearing why the various pieces appealed to them, and getting to visit with friends we haven’t seen in a while. It was also great to see so many new faces!

Thank you for a truly wonderful weekend! We are already hard at work planning our next event, our holiday open house which will be held the weekend of November 12 – 13. And thank you to all the vendors who joined us with all their wonderful merchandise. We enjoyed have you with us for this event, and hope you will not be strangers!

Until the next event, you can come stop by any time to see all the new things flooding in as our vendors work frantically to refill their spaces. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for November 12-13 when we hold our holiday open house, as we prepare to deck the halls! See you soon at the manor!
