We were so excited for our first Christmas season at Deep Creek Vintage! The studio construction was complete, so our first order of business was to turn it into a winter wonderland. Because we have so many large windows, we decided to help bring the outside in, and suspended large branches from the ceiling, complete with snowflakes, of course! Each vendor contributed items to complete this vignette. Our customers loved it! The tree was decorated with a woodland theme, and we added lots of beautifully painted furniture in whites, creams, and blues.
Our vendors’ rooms were transformed overnight! Christmas trees filled the rooms, along with some amazing vintage ornaments, garland, and holiday décor. Donna, our resident decorating fairy, showed up with a van full of accents and transformed our outside space. There was too much Christmas cheer to contain to just the house!
If customers were looking for that beautiful handmade decoration, they were certain to find it! From lacy and white to a transformed light, there was a huge variety to be found.
Our two-day holiday open house was so much fun! Ornaments, sleds, vintage skates, and wreaths flew out the door! We kept our customers happy and well-fed with cider and cookies, and I think sometimes we were just as excited to see what treasures they found!
We introduced a new program to help our customers ensure their Christmas morning was a great one – Deep Creek’s Not-So-Secret Santa! Customers were able to walk through Deep Creek Vintage and make a list of everything they would love Santa to bring in his sack. Those wish lists were kept on file at the store, and all customers had to do was send their gift-givers to see us. Just for asking for the wish list, customers received a coupon to help them make wishes come true.
November also marked Small Business Saturday! We fully believe in the importance of shopping small, local shops. We are so thankful for our customers who support us, and help us make our place in the local commerce. It is so wonderful to be able to know so many of our customers on a first-name basis, and maintain the personal connection. Our first Christmas was amazing, and we can’t wait to see what future seasons will be like at the big house on the hill. What are we most thankful for this season? Our wonderful customers and their friendship, of course!
